árka Coleman grew up in Prague's well known Kühn's Childrens Choir and later, Bambini di Praga, touring Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. With Bambini she participated in recording more than 15 CD's over 17 years as a soloist and choir member. From 1996-2000, she conducted Bambini's A3 choir. In 2000, she moved to the U.S. where she and her husband established the St.Paul Children's Choir. The Coleman's first met each other in 1997 when they worked as vocal and music directors for Songs of Hope, an International Children's music program in the United States. An intensive 6 week summer program, Songs of Hope is devoted to creating meaningful cross-border realtionships, and exposing children to different cultures through music, dance and shared living experience. Brendan Coleman is from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has worked for many years as a professional musician. Through his love for Caribbean and World music, he was able to perform with many known international musicians such as reggae artists Marcia Griffiths (of Bob Marley and the Wailers), John Holt (The Parragons), Leroy Sibbles (The Heptones), Owen Grey and Ethiopian Ali Birra. He toured with Reggae queen Judy Mowatt (of Bob Marley and the Wailers) for four years in the early 90's. Back home in Minneapolis, he played with many well known performers and worked on his own projects. He also collaborated with many Caribbean and African musicians in various bands. He was music director at Minnehaha United Methodist Church from 1994 - 2001. In 1999 - 2000, he was director of City Songs, an inner-city music program of the Sociology Department of the University of Minnesota. In 2001, the Colemans moved to Prague, where they established the British International School Choir. During their four years there, they recorded a CD and several full feature DVDs of annual concerts. This will be the third full season for the International Choir of Prague. |
